Your First 30 Minutes

In this tutorial, we’ll walk through everything you need to get productive with HomeStar. By the end, you’ll have a complete profile and understand how to find your leads and listings.

You’ll need:

  • Your login credentials (check your email invitation)
  • A professional headshot photo
  • 5 minutes of uninterrupted time

Visit the admin portal at your brokerage’s URL (check your invitation email).

  1. Enter your email address
  2. Enter the temporary password from your invitation
  3. Click “Sign In”

You’ll be prompted to set a new password. Choose something secure—this protects your client data.

Expected result: You should see the agent dashboard with a welcome message and empty sections for leads and listings.

Your profile appears on every listing you’re associated with, so let’s make it professional.

  1. Click your name in the top-right corner
  2. Select “Profile”
  3. Upload a professional headshot (square photos work best)
  4. Fill in your bio—2-3 sentences about your market expertise
  5. Add your phone number and email (these appear on listings)
  6. Click “Save Changes”

Expected result: You’ll see a banner saying “Profile changes submitted for approval” and your broker will receive a notification.

Let’s orient ourselves to the main sections. Click “Dashboard” in the left sidebar.

You’ll see four main areas:

Listings Section (top-left)

  • Shows properties you’re assigned to
  • Empty for now? That’s normal—your broker will assign you

Leads Section (top-right)

  • Displays inquiries from property searches
  • Contact forms automatically create leads here

Tours Section (bottom-left)

  • Shows scheduled property viewings
  • Clients can request tours directly from listings

Quick Actions (bottom-right)

  • Common tasks like updating availability
  • Access reports and performance metrics

Expected result: You understand where to find leads, listings, and tour requests when they arrive.

Let’s configure how you want to be alerted about new leads.

  1. Click “Settings” in the left sidebar
  2. Select “Notifications”
  3. Enable “Email notifications for new leads” (recommended)
  4. Enable “SMS notifications for tour requests” (if you want instant alerts)
  5. Set your quiet hours—no notifications during these times
  6. Click “Save Preferences”

Expected result: A confirmation message appears and your notification settings are active. Test it by asking your broker to send a test lead.

In just a few minutes, you’ve:

  • Secured your account with a new password
  • Created a professional profile (pending broker approval)
  • Learned where leads and tours appear
  • Configured notifications so you never miss opportunities
