Understanding the Broker Role
As a broker or team leader, you have capabilities beyond standard agent features. This document explains your role, responsibilities, and the platform’s approach to team management.
Your Responsibilities
Section titled “Your Responsibilities”Brokers in the HomeStar platform manage multiple aspects of their team and brokerage presence:
Team Members — You oversee agent profiles and manage permissions for who can access what features.
Brokerage Branding — You control the public-facing appearance of your brokerage, including logo, colors, and contact information.
Team Performance — You have access to aggregated reports and analytics that show how your team is performing collectively.
Compliance — You ensure data accuracy across your team’s listings and profiles, maintaining professional standards.
Team Management Philosophy
Section titled “Team Management Philosophy”The platform is designed to give you oversight without micromanagement. You can see what your team is doing without controlling every action they take.
Agents maintain autonomy in their daily work—setting their own preferences, responding to leads, and managing their listings. Your role is to support their success through the tools and data the platform provides.
Support for Your Team
Section titled “Support for Your Team”Help your agents succeed by:
- Sharing best practices documentation — Point them to resources that help them use the platform effectively
- Monitoring lead response times — Identify patterns where coaching might help
- Recognizing top performers — Use team metrics to celebrate success
- Providing training resources — Make sure they know how to use platform features
What You Control vs What Agents Control
Section titled “What You Control vs What Agents Control”You control:
- Overall brokerage branding and public appearance
- Which features are enabled for your brokerage
- Lead routing rules and assignment logic
- Service area boundaries and map defaults
Agents control:
- Their individual profile information
- Personal lead preferences and match criteria
- Response to leads assigned to them
- Their availability status
This division keeps agents empowered while giving you the controls that matter for running a cohesive brokerage.
