Map Search

Find properties by exploring neighborhoods visually with our interactive map interface.

The Map Search (/map) provides a visual property discovery experience using an interactive Leaflet map with real-time filtering, clustering, and draw-to-search capabilities.

When many properties are in view, markers cluster together:

  • Red cluster — Large group (50+)

Click a cluster to zoom in and expand it. Toggle clustering on/off with the “Clusters” button.

Create custom search areas by drawing a polygon:

  1. Click the Draw button (pencil icon)
  2. Click on the map to place polygon vertices
  3. Double-click to complete the polygon
  4. Properties within your shape appear in the sidebar

To clear the polygon, click Clear on the “Custom area active” indicator.

Quick filters update results in real-time:

  • Under $300K
  • $300K - $500K
  • $500K - $750K
  • $750K - $1M
  • $1M+
  • 1+ through 5+ beds
  • Single Family
  • Condo
  • Townhouse
  • Manufactured
  • Land
  • Enabled (default) — Results update as you pan the map
  • Disabled — Click “Search This Area” to update manually

The sidebar displays properties visible in the current map view:

Each card shows:

  • Property photo with hover zoom
  • Price prominently displayed
  • Street address and city
  • Bed/bath/sqft summary
  • Editorial “hook” (e.g., “New Construction”, “Great Value”)
  • Street View link (opens Google Street View)
  • Hover on a card to highlight its map marker
  • Click to view property details

On mobile devices, the sidebar becomes a bottom sheet:

  • Swipe up to expand and see property list
  • Swipe down to minimize and focus on map
  • Tap handle to toggle expanded/collapsed
  • Property count bubble shows at bottom when minimized

The map preserves your location and filters in the URL, making it easy to:

  • Bookmark your favorite neighborhoods
  • Use browser back/forward to navigate history

URL parameters include:

  • lat, lng — Map center coordinates
  • z — Zoom level
  • minPrice, maxPrice — Price filter
  • beds — Minimum bedrooms
  • type — Property type filter
